The Off The Wall Squash SKOOL was back in session in Wolverhampton!

We were very excited to deliver our second Primary School Squash Coaches Workshop last Sunday at Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis & Squash Club.

This time, the workshop was supported by The England Squash Foundation to provide funded spaces for coaches around the Midlands area. The day comprised practical work around equipment, games, exercises, and delivery methods, as well as the background work that goes into engaging schools and nurturing those links into local clubs.

Ming Lee, Chairman of Leamington Tennis & Squash Club, gave us some wonderful feedback, which helps fuel our passion to share this information further and to more people…

“I wanted to extend my personal thanks to you for organising the schools coaching masterclass at Wolverhampton yesterday.

“It was great to see and feel the passion, energy and expertise which Paul, Lauren and Emily shared with the group. It’s a simple but brilliant message that when the branding, product and service is good, coaches can help grow the game and make a decent living from school squash programmes. We’ll be buying a good number of your new rebound nets and I’ll definitely be reporting back to Mark Williams that this needs to be a national programme.”

Talking to Squash Player Magazine, Karen explained that,

“The bit squash coaches are generally terrified of is having 30 primary school children in front of them who have never held a racket before. What do you do with them? There’s nothing in the coaching manuals to tell you. If we want to get more children playing squash, we must give coaches the knowledge and confidence to do this well. That’s why this programme is so vital.”

OTW have big plans for our programme, with the design, development, and manufacture of better nets to aid coaches’ delivery too. If you’re interested in a workshop being held near you, please do get in touch with us via:
