The Roman Cup culminated last week for the Years 3 & 4 Primary Inter-School Competition.

We had 33 teams, 144 kids and 600 matches in the first and second round! On the finals day the teams were split into groups according to their results from the first 2 rounds. The coaches were SO impressed with the standard on display, especially as so many of these children had never experienced anything like this before. The atmosphere, the spectators and sometimes the overwhelm of doing something new did cause some nerves and wobbles, but that was soon replaced by smiles, laughter, cheering and excitement watching their teammates compete.

“The Roman Cup is without doubt my favourite event in the year. It is heart warming to see how much the children enjoy playing squash and also how much they improve from the first round to the last. I truly believe primary school squash is the key to raising the profile of squash.

Children learn a new and exciting sport, linked to that the parents become engaged in a sport they’ve either never played or haven’t played for years. We are looking forward to seeing many new faces at the Academy!”
