On Friday the 17th January, Off The Wall Squash hosted another Winter Essex School Games at the Colchester Garrison.

The School games which is an Active Essex inititative is a fantastic multi-sport event and sees schools around Essex competing at Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis and Squash all on the same day. Essex is one of the very few counties to include squash in their School Games and Off The Wall Squash have run this event on behalf of Active Essex for the 5th consecutive year.

Teams are made up of 2 girls and 2 boys playing 1 game to 11 with sudden death at 10-10. It’s a round Robin tournament and every point is added up to create your team’s total.

13 teams took part in their year’s event, with 48 children, plus teachers, volunteers, referees and organisers, it makes for quite a busy day!!!

In the Year 5 tournament there were teams from Langham, Felsted, Tiptree Heath, Ardleigh St. Mary’s, Highfields and Mersea Island. Whilst in Year 6 we saw Highfields, Tiptree Heath, 2 teams from Felsted, Ardleigh St. Mary’s and Mersea Island.

We’re incredibly proud of the work we do throughout the year in our Primary School Squash Programme and seeing so many faces from this programme competing (as well as many of them now committed academy members), really makes us happy.
